Sunny Sunshiney Sun

Good day!

Indeed it has been. This whole week has been so sunny and amazing. I've been feeling a lot more optimistic and happier and I'm pretty sure the nice weather we've been having has something to do with that.

I've been studying hard the last few days as I've got two assessments on Monday - Music Theory and Creative Industries Infrastructure. I'm not too worried about Creative Industries but am really nervous about Music Theory. I'm pretty sure I've got all my scales down I just hope I remember all the intervals and stuff.

Yesterday I finally got to do the photo shoot for my album cover. I'm so glad it's over and done with, that's one less thing I have to worry about. The photos have turned out great now I just need  to get the recording done!

I have a gig tomorrow night at the Byre Theatre Bar, nothing special but hopefully I'll have a good crowd.

That is all from me for now,

Leprechauns And Cancelled Photo Sessions

Top of the morning to you...ehem.

So last night I played a gig at The Rule in St. Andrews for St. Patrick's Day. It was a successful gig despite the fact that I had only managed to learn four Irish songs. There was a large group of Irish guys there that sang along to every song and even handed a hat around and put money in it for me! I've had a really sore throat all week so I wasn't sounding my best at all but nobody else seemed to notice. I just wished I'd been in a better mood, probably due to the fact I've been feeling rubbish all week.

Today I was supposed to be getting the photos done for the album art of my EP but my friend who was going to take them for me had to pull out because his brother had taken his camera without telling him. This gave me a full day without plans so I decided to get some revision done for my Music Theory assessment on Monday which I'm pretty worried about.

I've got a full day rehearsal tomorrow for Finn's musical which is going well at the moment. I haven't had a chance to learn any of my lines yet so I really need to find some time to get that done.

I haven't been able to record this week either because Ben is really really ill with some horrible infection thing which I won't describe because I don't want to make anyone vom.

So not a very productive week by my standards but hopefully next week will be much for fulfilling!

This Week...

Hello!

This week started off as usual with college. For singing I've been asked to pick three songs from the same genre to work on for my next assessment. I think I'll go for the genre of 'musicals' as it will be something different for me and it gives me a wide range of songs to choose from. We also had our first band rehearsal for band. Our drummer was absent but we managed to get some ideas flowing. We didn't really come out with a product but it was good for us to discuss what kind of sound we wanted.

Rehearsals for 'Streets' are going great and I've managed to learn the majority of my songs off by heart. Now I just need to focus on learning my lines and understanding my character a bit more. The cast have really started bonding which is great because it means we can all have a laugh while we rehearse.

I also had a small rehearsal for the other musical I'm taking part in - the Brit Pop one. Unfortunately the majority of people involved failed to show up but we managed to get some songs practised. I just hope that this doesn't become a running theme with these rehearsals because it's a shame on Ali, who is directing it, and he rest of us who have made the effort to show up.

On Thursday I got a phone call from The Rule, a pub in St. Andrews, saying that their live music act had pulled out last minute and asking me to play. I've been really ill all week with a cold and sore throat but I said yes and The Rule really appreciated it. I'm glad I did say yes because I got paid well, I enjoyed the gig and The Rule definitely like me a lot more now which means more future gigs! The only problem was that it made my throat worse.

I have a gig tonight at One Golf Place, another St. Andrews pub. Hopefully my throat will be able to last the full two hour set. I just need to look after myself better than I have been.

Anyway I better go get ready!

Current Affairs

Soooooooo this week has been a busy one and it's not even finished yet!

Had college on Monday and Tuesday during which I got to watch my Stagecraft and Band assessments. Musically I was fine but it was kind of embarrassing watching myself on stage. I never know what to do with myself because I'm so used to having a guitar. That's something I'm going to have to work on...

We got put into our new bands as well which I am really happy about cos I couldn't have been put with a better band! Really excited to start writing music together. We're going to be a sort of Blues/Rock band which is something I haven't done before so I'm very much looking forward to it!

On Wednesday I was recording at Ben's and we managed to lay down the guitar tracks, vocals and backing vocals for an entire track which I would say is quite productive.

I had a gig on Thursday at The Rule in St. Andrews. The crowd seemed to really enjoy it, someone even gave me a note to say thank you for playing for them and that they had a really good night. There were a couple of guys at the bar who were being...well lets just say 'rude' but I managed to publicly humiliate them which shut them up. I hate when people try and put me down when I'm playing. I'm pretty sure that they wouldn't know how to set up a PA system, write a song or sing Bonnie Tyler so personally I think they should just go and...YEAH!

Today I am going to try and do some more writing, maybe practice a bit for Finn's musical. I have work tonight which is good because I need the money to pay for all the petrol I'm using going to and from gigs and recording.

Tomorrow it's the full day rehearsal for Finn's musical in Perth which I'm looking forward to but it's going to be a long day from 9:30am to 8:30pm. It'll definitely be worth it and it'll be the first time the whole cast has been together.

So yeah, I've been busy but it's better than just doing nothing all week. Until next time!
